Why online training is better for the client

Being a personal training client isn't easy either. It's something that we don't talk about much. The easier you make the process, the more success a client can have and the longer they'll stay with you. Which also means the more referrals they'll send your way.

Here's how online training is better for the client:

  • It's more cost effective.
  • Scheduling is no longer an issue. Clients no longer have to fight over the prime spots.
  • They can work with the best (you) and not the closest (the other guy or girl).

After being in the fitness industry for 10 years I’ve come to learn that despite people’s best intentions when it comes to achieving their goals, life gets in the way for most people.  Only 20% of clients ever have high compliance when it comes to following the exercise and nutritional advice of their trainer. Rather than lamenting this fact I have refined my accountabilities systems to ensure that if you have a goal, I’m going to help you achieve it no matter how bad your initial level of compliance.

Now I use a combined carrot and stick approach to maximize clients’ motivation.
In our first Skype consultation we will work out what rewards are going to motivate you through positive reinforcement and out systems in place to sure that your hard work is rewarded when you meet you weekly habit of the week.

For those who find staying motivated more difficult I now use the online program Stick with my coaching clients. Stickk is a ‘Commitment Contract’ that binds you into achieving a personal goal.

The Commitment Contract concept is based on two well-known principles of behavioural economics:

  1. People don't always do what they claim they want to do, and
  2. Incentives get people to do things

Stickk is one part of the online coaching equation and Trainerize is the other.

Trainerize is a online software program and smart phone app that allows me to write and send you programs with videos attached showing you exactly how to perform each exercise with correct form; record and graph your measurement changes over time; and a member log in area that lets you see you program notes, any messages and communication from me; and your before and after progress photos. You can access Trainerize and Stikk through your Inner Mastery member log in that will have all of the necessary programs and information that you need in one place.

Trainerize allows me to remotely check in and see whether or not you have been following your exercise program and see any questions you may have that you have recorded in your program notes section, maximizing the accountability, and maximizing your results in the process!

Most people who have tried personal training have done so for 3-6 months because that’s all they could afford.
